From Flood-Prone to Eco-Friendly: A Cottage Garden Transformation

This project turned a flood-prone, slate-covered yard into a lush, wildlife-friendly retreat, blending natural charm with sustainable design. The result is a functional yet beautiful cottage-style garden that supports both the clients’ lifestyle and the environment.

Eco-Friendly Flood Control
To manage water issues, we installed a discreet French drain system, effectively preventing flooding while protecting the garden and the environment.

Privacy and Year-Round Appeal
A variety of carefully chosen trees provide natural screening, vibrant seasonal colour, and year-round interest, enhancing the garden's charm and functionality.

 A Wildlife Haven
Generous planting borders filled with invertebrate-friendly topsoil and pollinator-attracting plants create a haven for bees, butterflies, and other local wildlife.

 Sustainability and Character
Reclaimed materials add timeless character while reducing waste. Indian sandstone slabs already on-site were reused, while locally sourced reclaimed Cheshire clay bricks formed a rustic, picturesque pathway.

 Bespoke Pergola
A custom-built pergola brings structure, height, and charm, offering shade and privacy while inviting nature to flourish. In spring, flowering and climbing plants will be added to create a stunning focal point.
